HARRISONBURG
A few years ago our car broke down in Harrisonburg on the way to Grandpa and Grandma's house. While the car was getting fixed I roamed around the streets Harrsionburg. There was a BBQ place there that I wanted to try at but it was closed that day. I thought I'd give it another try with Steve but on the way there we saw the L&S Diner. There was a free parking place so we altered our plans. BBQ would have to wait.
HARRISONBURG
What made the L&S Diner interesting was that this was the old L&S Diner. It makes one wonder.

Here is the inside of the diner. Local color.

Steve and Gerry catch up at the Bannan house after more than 25 years! Yikes. We seem to be getting old.

The first thing that Steve and I noticed when we visited Gerry's classroom studio were these massive easels. Holy mackerel! You could park a truck on that thing.

Here is what he was having them draw. A magnolia seed pod.

Between clase and my gallery talk, Gerry suggested we go get BBQ. We did not object. Pigs-R-Us it is!

Here is where my paintings were displayed. Side A. A little blurry, but I think that my be the best way to see my work.

Here is the Show title and such with my bio on it. I hate writing these things about myself so I took a few liberties. Here is what it says;
Russell Rogers holds a BFA in Painting (1986) from Temple University's Tyler School of Art and a Master of Environmental Studies (2000) from the Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington. For most of the last 20 years, he lived in the Pacific Northwest where he worked as a research biologist studying habitat selection in non-game birds and was the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife's expert on shellfish disease, pest, and predators. He recently moved back to West Chester PA, with his wife and three children where he is now back to painting full time. He still studies birds but shellfish are a little hard to come by. In his free time, he enjoys studying the host parasite relationship of birds and dipteran parasites, endurance cycling, mid oceanic deep sea diving, voyeurism, and collecting spent fuel injectors from Formula 1 race cars who had drivers with Basque sounding last names. For extra cash, on the third Thursday of every month, he works in Hollywood as a body double for Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, and Betty White.
MARTINSVILLE
The walls where the art work is displayed is somewhat strange. It has short pile carpet on it. I've never seen such a thing.

Here are some of Gerry's students.

This fella video taped the gallery talk. I tried hard not to use the Philadelphia lexicon, which some people, okay, most people find offensive.

The show.

One more shot of us together. Hopefully we will get to do it again when Steve shows his work down there!
